Bon Courage

Bon Courage – celebrated Vice Bundeschampion 2019 and sire of the 2023 Oldenburg Champion stallion and 1.2 million euro price topper – Bon Esprit.

In its first tournament season, Bon Courage delivered a made-to-measure debut. After winning his first ever riding horse test, he qualified for the final of the Hanoverian Championship in Verden. He then received the nomination for the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf.

There he was able to confirm the good form of the last days and weeks under his rider – Jessica Lynn-Thomas.

As winners of the final qualification, they only received grades of 9.0 and better. On the Sunday finale, the couple was able to improve again. As in the preliminary test, the stallion’s building and training were rated 9.5. The gallop and step were each worth 9.0 for the judges, the trot even 9.5. The pair won the silver medal for the three-year-old stallions in 2019 with 9.3

Bon Courage confirms the high expectations that he had raised at the licensing in Verden. As one of the darling of the public, he was featured there as a premium stallion and described as “an exceptional guy, a beaming man with a lot of harmony in the body. Its quality of movement leaves nothing to be desired.”

From the breeding of Dr Christine Feichtinger he had his first public appearance on the occasion of the foal show in Visselhövede at home. Connoisseurs had already looked at him there. Then he confidently qualified as the winning foal for the final of the German Foal Championships in Lienen. The start of a hopeful career.

Bon Courage has already produced nine licensed sons, including the Oldenburg champion stallion and 1.2 million euro price topper Bon Esprit and the Hanoverian premium stallion and stallion market leader Bon Ludwig. Best Rubin won gold at the Brandenburg Verband Championships, while Bellini and Bon Cru took fourth and eighth place at the Hanoverian Championships.

The Bon Courage daughter Ballerina became the champion mare at the Herwart von der Decken show, Bonjour Madame went to the final ring. Bombastic was the top-priced foal at the Hanoverian Elite Auction with 34,000 euros.

Bon Courage started his career as a Hanoverian premium stallion, Hanoverian Champion and Vice-Champion as well as Vice-Bundeschampion. This was followed by placings in tests for young dressage horses. Thomas Schulze has since trained him up to advanced dressage level.

Bon Courage is the paternal half-brother of champion stallion Bellany.

Modern cut, a pedigree made to measure and three exceptional basic gaits. These qualities are no coincidence and are based on the best dressage genes: Father Bon Coeur was the winner in the 30-day test in Schlieckau, with a final grade of 9.1 and a remarkable breeding value of 150 index points. After multiple victories in riding horse competitions, the title of Hanoverian champion followed, twice he became vice-champion in Warendorf and immediately produced 15 licensed stallions from his premier year.

Great-grandfather Rohdiamant has firmly established itself among the world’s best rideability sires. His own career was full of highlights: licensing winner, double federal champion, main award winner and Grand Prix winner under Lisa M. Wilcox / USA. He produced over 50 licensed sons and numerous internationally successful offspring.

On the mother’s side, Bon Courage comes from the dam line of Angel II, which is where DLG winner Angela and Bundeschampion Duino come from.
